Weeks - even months- on from our wedding, we still have guests remarking on how brilliant Richard was in facilitating our ceremony. Nothing about Richard’s approach is formulaic or rehearsed, and it is so clear that he cares that every ceremony captures the spirit of those who are celebrating. We wanted our ceremony to feel personal and informal, and that is exactly what we got. We met with Richard beforehand and he helped us with questions about our vows, and found out about us so that our ceremony could be just perfect. Richard’s manner is so sincere and engaging and it was evident to everybody that he is the perfect person to make a special occasion go just as you wish. We can’t imagine having had anybody else play such a huge part in our big day.

When we decided to marry, my husband and I were agreed that the traditional “white wedding” wasn’t for us.

We are an older couple, so the traditional big white dress, bridesmaids and bouquets weren’t on the cards. A civil ceremony was planned, but we felt that we wanted to mark the occasion with more than just the legal wording that is required.

He spent time getting to know us both, asking gentle questions about how we met, and laughing with us as we reminisced. His web site says he is “Your Friendly Celebrant” and he certainly lived up to the name. On the day, he not only gave a reading which told our story perfectly (with lots of laughter, and the obligatory “tear in your eye” moment), he also liaised with the venue staff to arrange the champagne for the toast, called our family and friends to order when the ceremony was about to start, and positioned our guests so they all had a great view for the cake cutting (and to take their photographs).

All of our guests thought he did a wonderful job, and so did we. I can’t rate him highly enough; Richard, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We were both so pleased with our humanist wedding ceremony conducted by Richard at our wedding. He made such an effort to make the ceremony personal and unique to us from taking the time to get to know us, listening to our stories and working with the maid of honour, who performed a reading, to make sure the ceremony flowed beautifully and was very memorable. We received such lovely feedback from our guest, many of whom had never been to a humanist ceremony, who said how much it reflected who we are as a couple and completely suited the warm and relaxed atmosphere we wanted to create. I had a ceremony to reflect the end of a difficult relationship. All I knew was that I wanted to celebrate this step in my life and it was Richard who made all of that happen. Not only from the initial encouragement, but the thought he put into every single step and aspect of the ceremony. This wasn’t an off the shelf ceremony, no! It was so personal, so intimate, so special. The ceremony itself was something I will never forget. Richard was an outstanding professional, he held the entire room, everyone was intensely engaged with his powerful messages and delivery. The ceremony was smooth and flowed naturally. He made it truly unique and it was such a special moment. I have never known so many people at any ceremony, gush over what a fantastic job he did, and he deserves every bit of credit.
